Return
The Roadrunner Round-Up

This semester is almost over, and these few last weeks are packed with events all across campus and the community. Here are a few highlights.

1. Share Your Christmas

There is nothing like making a difference by helping the people around you, and Dalton State's Radiologic Technology students collected and donated more than 1,000 pounds of food to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank that provides over 300,000 meals to the region. They were even featured on WRCB-TV3!

2. Service of Remembrance

To honor the special people that passed throughout the year, Dalton State held its annual, non-religious candlelight Service of Remembrance at the bell tower.

3. World AIDS Day

To increase awareness regarding HIV/AIDS to the campus community, the Georgia Department of Public Health, the North Georgia Health District, and Dalton State's Department of Social Work co-hosted World AIDS Day. The event featured special speakers such as Michael “MAC” Coker, a nurse, who spoke on the evolution of nursing someone with HIV/AIDS, and Rachel Houghten, who spoke on counseling those with HIV/AIDS.

4. Etiquette Dinner with Lamar and Ann Wright

For students to be prepared for any situation in the workplace, the School of Business trains them in proper etiquette at the dinner table. This year, students were honored with the opportunity to meet C. Lamar and Ann Wright, who are the donors for the upcoming renovation and expansion of the current Gignilliat Memorial Hall to house the now renamed Wright School of Business.

5. A Time of Wonder: Holiday Ornament Decorating

With or without creative skills, students, faculty, and staff came together to hear from members of the DSC community about their varied holiday traditions while making ornaments to decorate the holiday tree. Just the event to get into the holiday spirit!
